One of the hardest parts of divorce is learning to live solo whether thats with your children or during a week without anyone other than yourself. If youre trying to adapt to a new lifestyle, replacing some items can be important for both the closure and embracing the new start in your life. Here are six items youll want to replace after your divorce:

Your Married Bed

The bedroom is where you shared intimacy, love and bonding which is a hard place to spend your evening after the divorce. If its possible, purchase new bedding set, in whatever colours and prints you desire.

New Photo Albums

While you dont need to gut the entire past youve had together, make the divorce final by purchasing a new photo album to fill with new memories moving forward. Make the commitment to grab the new album when youre feeling sad instead of the wedding album.

Dishes and Cups

Starting fresh doesnt have to be expensive, but having a new set of dishes can help you re-establish a beginning. Many times, dishes break and mesh into an incomplete, miss-matched set.

Towels and Washcloths

Many times we forget how long weve held on to the towels weve had but now is the time to let go of anything older than three years. Spend the time reorganizing your linens and keep only the items you (or your children) love. On average, keep two or three towels per family member more if you happen to have a pool or hot tub.

Bathroom Products and Soaps

Remember all of those bathroom products you stuffed under the sink and in the closet? Its time to sort through all the items sitting underneath your sink and donate any new unopened soaps, shampoos, shaving products or conditioners you will no longer use. Replace any items with new products youll use on a daily basis.

Underwear and Socks

Keeping the same underwear, lingerie, socks and negligee after a divorce is often noted as bad luck so make an effort to treat yourself to something new when the separation is final. Youll be more likely to feel confident and attractive when youve thrown out the old items that are ripped, torn and worn out. While youre at it, throw away any mismatched socks, old dress socks and nylons too.
